Review: 11-12 Never Summer Proto CTX 158
6Now that we’re all into the swing of summer up here in the northern hemisphere, and I’ve finished moving into my new place etc. I can start dedicating more time to the site again. I’ve had the notes on this review for quite a bit now, and finally found the time to get it out. Better late then never eh?
By now, everyone has heard of or seen a Never Summer Proto CTX. Looking at the Proto CTX, one can imagine the love child of the Never Summer Legacy, and Revolver. In the past I’ve heard people mention “they wished there was a board in between the Legacy and Revolver” they could ride, because that’d be the sweet spot yeah! I’ve been riding the Legacy for as long as I can remember, and it’s the one board I try to actually buy a model of each year (kind of a tradition thing) since it was my first NS board, and still one of my all time favorites. Never Summer has taken a few design steps in a new direction this year, including the addition of the Carbonium tech on a board outside of the Heritage and Raptor, as well as blunted tips, and a slight tweak to the effective edge on the Proto CTX.
Local: Deep Pow
1I headed up Saturday with friends to ride up near Vail past Copper Mountain at Ski Cooper, a very small local Colorado ski/ride area. A lot of my friends enjoy riding there because it’s smaller, quiet and there’s never a single line at the hill. While it’s a smaller area, Ski Cooper definitely represents with fun terrain to ride. Since I was going to spend several days up that way riding, I figured I’d take the Raptor X out with Rome Targas, in case the Pow gods blessed me with a dusting of freshies.
Thoughts: Never Summer Raptor X vs The Heritage X
17I’ve had a lot of positive feedback on the Heritage vs Legacy article, so I decided, at the request of several people to write up my thoughts on the differences between the Heritage and the Raptor. While the two boards share the Carbonium technology, they are far from identical. Let’s discuss the differences, and why you would choose one over another shall we?
