Review: 2010 Flow NXT FSE XL
I tend to get my fair share of Flow bindings, and everyone knows I'm a pretty big fan of Flow. I finally got my hands on the NXT-FSE series. I argued with myself on reviewing or riding this binding, because honestly my first impression of the new ratchet system wasn't necessarily positive. I decided I'd give these a try after I found out the SE series will continue on into the 2011 lineup. I rode these bindings on a few boards including the 2010 Never Summer Revolver-R, 2011 Raptor X, 2010 Lib Skunk Ape, and a few others.
I rode these with size 12 Flow "The One" boots as well as size 13 32 Lashed boots.
Review: 10-11 Never Summer Raptor X
I recently had the pleasure of getting my hands on the new 10-11 Never Summer Raptor X. The Raptor X replaces the Titan TX (or Titan) this year with a few changes in place. I took this board out multiple times, with both Union Force bindings, and the Flow NXT FSE bindings, and size 12 Flow "The One" boots. I know a lot of people are curious about this board, so let's dig into it.
Review: Union Contact Binding
I happened to grab a pair of the Union Contacts from the fellas at C3 WorldWide. As a fan of the Union Force bindings, they recommended I take a look at the Contacts, and I'm glad they did. I'll admit, I was skeptical at first, as I've heard this binding was just way too soft, and not supportive outside of the park.
Review:Flow NXT FRX
Flow continues to expand their line of bindings and tech available to riders everywhere. For those big mountain, freeride lovers out there, the NXT FRX is calling your name. Touted as Flows "stiffest and virtually indestructible binding," the FRX delivers in a big way.
Review: Sound Basis Jacket
Sound Outerwear, part of the Brandbase family coming from Marc Frank Montoya of Technine, has been high on my radar this year. Sound puts out several jackets and pants for both men and women, all boasting slick, refined styling and color ways. My foray into Sound outerwear started with the Sound Basis Jacket in the midnight purple color-way, thanks to Travis at 720 Boardshop!
Review: 09-10 32 Lashed Lace
In the quest to find snowboard boots that fit us bigger guys, one cannot rule out Thirty Two (32). Thirty Two makes the Lashed which is one of the best selling snowboard boots in the industry. I must admit, this was my first time ever riding with a pair of 32 Lashed boots, and I was pleasantly surprised.
Review: Salomon Dialogue Select Boot -Wide
Continuing in my exploration for great boots for us bigger riders, I absolutely wanted to get my hands on a pair of the Salomon Dialogue boots in the wide width version. I ended up catching them on sale in a not so popular color-way here locally, and picked them up. Salomon is one of, if not the only snowboard boot makers who manufacturer wide width boots, or at least as far as I know. If you know of any others, do let me know!
Review: 686 Smarty Command Jacket
Outerwear choices are plenty for most people, but for us bigger guys, it can be rather hard to find a jacket that fits properly in all areas. This year I decided to check out what 686 was offering. 686 has a reputation for having a bigger fit with their outerwear, and of course a great reputation for design and quality. I picked up the 686 Smarty Command Jacket in Cyan in size XXL, as it's one of only a few jacket designs available in XXL from 686 this year.
Review:Flow “The One” Lace… Initial Impressions
Flow is well known for their bindings, but perhaps not as well known for their boots. I picked up a pair of "The One" boots in black/purple in size 12 to give em a spin, and here are some initial impressions.
REVIEW: 09-10 GNU Park Pickle 156W
I've heard numerous people tell me how much they enjoy the GNU Park Pickle. I decided to take the board out myself and give it a spin. I picked up a 156W Pickle on the advice of a good friend. The Pickle is one of the Transworld Good Wood winners for boards over $400, and also has a Platinum Pick Design Award from Snowboard Magazine.
