Local: SIA Day One Wrap-Up
So today I ventured down to SIA to meetup with the industry peeps, and check out what’s coming down the pipe for this coming year. I had to work yesterday so didn’t make it out the opening day. I had a chance to swing by quite a few places today and grab some shots. I won’t write-up too much, but will post most of the pictures I took from today. Check em out, and let me know what you think.
Lib was there in full force , so I snapped a few shots of some upcoming gear. A lot of bright colors, and great graphics. Not pictured below, but coming is the Skunk Ape C2 Horse Power (stoked to get some time on that board!) Lib is known for being experimental, and have some cool shapes, and environmentally friendly tech as well.
Swung by Union to catch what’s shaking with them. A lot of bright colors! Some sick designs coming down the pipe!
Right across from Union was of course Capita, whose boards I fall in love with each year. I snapped pics of the “NAS,” Horrorscope, and B.S.O.D. The “NAS” even had a wide model on the floor, which had me stoked! Look for a review coming on that board!
There’s been a lot of excitement around the new Flow bindings design, so I swung by to check em out. I can say the canting, and the new N.A.S.T.Y. strap tech are going to be a blast to ride. I didn’t snap any board pictures on today’s visit, but plan to tomorrow.
Flux bindings were among the first places I stopped today. Always a super friendly crew willing to sit and chat about some awesome changes they’ve made. Snapped a few pics of some of their lineup. Notice that the forward lean adjustment has been removed from the high-back. It’s not part of the heelcup adjustment. Pretty slick little design.
Spent a bit of time chatting with the crew at NeverSummer about the graphics for this year, and the Cobra X, which has been getting a bunch of hype on the forums, and around the interwebs. I should be getting my hands on that board here pretty quickly. This years Heritage was a highlight for me, as it’s one of my favorite boards, and with the white carbonium topsheet, it just pops. The Matte topsheet on the Evo/Revolver is pretty slick as well.
I had a blast meeting up with everyone today, and taking pics. I apologize in advance for some of the out of focus shots, I took my DSLR, but ended up shooting with my iphone for the most part. (it was a bit easier at times.) I’ll be adding content updates from Rome, Oakley, and others on my next update.
