Local: Deep Pow
I headed up Saturday with friends to ride up near Vail past Copper Mountain at Ski Cooper, a very small local Colorado ski/ride area. A lot of my friends enjoy riding there because it’s smaller, quiet and there’s never a single line at the hill. While it’s a smaller area, Ski Cooper definitely represents with fun terrain to ride. Since I was going to spend several days up that way riding, I figured I’d take the Raptor X out with Rome Targas, in case the Pow gods blessed me with a dusting of freshies.
I definitely got what I asked for, and more. I spent the last four day slashing pow that went as deep as my chest in some areas (Insanity) down to my knees at the most shallow point. I have to continue to give mad props to Never Summer for the Raptor X. The Raptor in pow, is unlike any other board I’ve had the chance to ride. It floats like a dream, and with the setback R&C design, the edge to edge control in pow is amazing. I ended up bombing past not only my friends, but most people on any run I dropped, while making beautiful turns, and slashing pow left and right. The Rome Targas, which I’ll have a review on shortly, were nothing short of awesome!
I’ve gotta give mad props to Never Summer, Rome, and the snow gods for the most amazing four days of pow riding I’ve had yet this season. If the current snow is any sign of what the rest of the season here in Colorado is going to be like, it should be pretty epic going forward! Get out there and get some!

Yeah so I picked up a Raptor X this year as well. Your review was one of the few out there when I bought it.
Took it out to A-basin today. Blue bird skies and some decent snow left over from that great storm. It was awesome. What a great board. Fast, floaty and fun. It took a few runs to kinda lock in my understanding of the rocker (this is my first rocker board), but then it just sorta clicked. I really like the way the rocker handles. I am really excited about this board, and I am really excited about this season so far!!!!!! Happy Holidays and thanks for posting all the helpful info!!
