I’m one of those people who forgets gloves and realizes it only after I’ve arrived some place to shred. Having done this a few times this past season, I found myself at Loveland with no gloves.  I ventured into the gear shop at Loveland to quickly find a pair of gloves, afterall, I have a few pairs at home, and don’t really care much about specifics, as I want to get out and ride.  I asked the extremely nice lady behind the counter for a pair of gloves that are sized XL due to my funny sized hands (thick wrist, and palm.)

The only gloves available were the Dakine Chargers in the purple and white colorway.  So this is how I ended up with a pair of Dakine gloves.  This was my first season wearing Dakine gloves.  I found that not only do I like them, I really in fact love them.  There are many reasons, first and foremost being the build quality.

Dakine Charger

The Chargers are a midweight fleece glove with leather and nylon outer.  The wrist of the glove uses and adjustable hook and loop closure, making it rather simple to slip the gloves off and on. We all love Velcro right?!? The Palm of the gloves are a leather that just took a beating time and time again, and are still holding up just fine.  The pictures I’ve included with this review where taken after I’ve spent the season riding with these gloves, just about everywhere.   The glove is waterproof, and the fleece inner liners kept my hands adequately warm.   I really enjoyed the durability of the leather palms and finger bottoms though.

Leather Bottom "Abused"

Overall the Charger is a well built, well designed glove, priced around $49.99 aimed at those freestyle riders who need warmth without sacrificing movement.  The Charger is a low profile glove, so it’s designed to stay out of the way.  I’m quite a big fan of these gloves at this point, as they haven’t let me down to date!
