It took me a while to finally get around to this review, but I figured it’s about time.  As I get older, I don’t necessarily play in the park as much, as I find myself preferring to stay up higher on the mountain for big turns.   Capita, is one of my favorite companies for snowboards.  Rider owned and operated, I’ve always been a fan of the Black Death, and wanted to definitely get my hands on the 155w Horrorscope, when I found out it was coming out.

The 09-10 Horrorscope has “Flat Kick” technology, which pretty much means, between the bindings the board is pretty much flat, but out from the bindings to the tip/tail, there is a 6mm kick up.  Now you’re probably saying, 6mm, that’s hardly noticeable.  Well when you’re looking at the board, you’re right, it’s not screaming at you, but when you’re riding the board, you definitely notice the ease with which the board turns, and how stable the Horrorscope FK feels.

So you may be asking, “how the hell does this thing handle” with bigger riders.  Well, the short of it, it’s flexy! Like flexy as in a 4 out of 10 range, but probably more of a 3 with bigger riders.  The Horrorscope pops and snaps like a dream.  It’s fun as hell to press, and responds nicely into turns without feeling hooky, or overly chatty.   Since it uses FK technology, it’s pretty stable feeling on runs, although I did find it’s not the dampest board, as it’s geared at the park mainly.  I rode this board with Union Force (LX/XL) bindings and Flow “The One” size 12 boots.  I didn’t really  notice any toe or heel drag that would cause problems.  I will say, the Horrorscope butters like a dream, and I mean dream!  It’s a fun board to hit kickers with, although being a bigger rider on the 155w, you may want to take a minute to judge your landings etc, and you may find yourself really pushing the board.  It’s rather easy to see why this board won the Transworld GoodWood award this season, because it really deserves it.

The Horrorscope has an extruded base, making it easy to maintain, and repair, which makes perfect sense for a park board.  It’s not the fastest board, I’ve ever ridden, nor do I expect it to be, as that’s not it’s aim.  It’s a true twin board, and uses the “WDT Engineered” jib core, which includes pressure bonding wood composite materials, allowing for a better flex overall, while still providing the feeling of an all wood core.  The stance on the Horrorscope is centered and I believe it’s about 26″ total width for all you stance whores out there.

The 155w comes with a 26.0 waist width, and standard binding inserts.  The graphics on this beast were among my favorite for this seasons. It’s definitely a unique board, and stands out on the hill.  Super flexy, fun to press/butter, and fun all over the mountain, Capita has really hit a home run with this one.  While it wouldn’t be my everyday rider, it’s definitely a board I enjoy riding.  I rode this board as a demo, and later purchased it.
