Burton ICS?

So today I had a discussion again, about the Burton ICS system. I've ridden the system previously, and don't want to post a review about it yet, as I feel I need to ride the system again. It's definitely an interesting system, and I do have to give Burton their dues for attempting to innovate in an area, where there's definitely room for innovation. I'm curious if any of you have any thoughts on the ICS system? If so, I'd love to hear any feedback from you guys out there. I'll ride them again this season and post a review using the Burton Custom, a board I consider an all around badass, consistent board.

  1. How does the Legacy stack up against the Custom?

  2. Interesting question indeed. The custom is no doubt a badass board, and in my opinion, one of the most consistent and solid boards that Burton makes. That being said, I did replace my custom with the Legacy with R&C tech. I ended up liking the ride on the Legacy better when I rode the boards during the same season. The topsheet on the custom had some issues with flaking and nasty scratching. I think the flex between the two boards is pretty similiar, although the custom seemed to have more chatter on some bomb runs where the legacy didn't. I want to ride the new custom ICS setup and see how I feel about the new setups after more than one day of riding.

  3. Ha ha interesting. Currently having an argument with a friend who's just bought a custom x wide about which is better – the custom or the legacy. Pointless argument as neither of us have had a chance to ride yet this year.

  4. The Custom X is a slightly different beast than the custom. The X is a bit more directional, stiffer, but lighter board than the custom. Did he get the ICS system on the board? The X is going to be more mountain orientated, because of it's stiffness. The Legacy holds it's own, no need to worry ;-) Also keep in mind, rider preferences differ, but I totally understand those fun pointless arguments!

  5. Yeah its got the ICS system, i'd be interested to see whether it creates any dead spots on the board..or anything like that…
