Noggin Safety…
Should I wear a helmet, or should I skip it? Questions that everyone probably asks themselves. I choose to wear a helmet based on safety issues and having been hit in the head once before by a rider not paying downhill attention. While not always the most stylish event, I do find myself at times forgetting I even have my helmet on. Now..the reason for this post, is not to discuss why or why not, it’s actually just to present some helmet sizing information. I’ve parsed through several vendors sizing data to come up with the lil list below. One thing to keep in mind, the size may be correct, but is the shape correct or comfortable for you? Always try on whatever Noggin Safety device you’re gonna be pimpin down the runs.
Peep the following sizes as listed by vendors:
R.E.D. Hi-Fi Helmet Size XXL (63-65cm)
R.E.D. Hi-Fi Helmet Size XL (61-63cm)
Pro-Tec Vigilante Size XXL (61-62cm)
Pro-Tec Mercenary Size XXL (61-62cm)
Pro-Tec Assault Size XXL (61.62cm)
Giro *Generic Size Size XXL (60.5-62.5cm)
I presently have my hands on both Giro and R.E.D. Hi-Fi Helmets, so reviews on both of them with detailed photos will be posted soon. I’ll include notes on my”Gaper Gap” potential with goggles from Oakley, Giro, and Smith.
